The Art of Living
A Sustainable Feast for Sustainable Scholarships
by Chris Hanger
Love food? Love art?
Love doing good?
Then we have the social event for you!
On October 11, 2009, Evergreen will hold its first annual Art of Living benefit.
This celebration of fine art, gourmet cuisine and community spirit is our premiere event to raise funds for student scholarships. The benefit spotlights the newly renovated Evergreen Gallery as a center of art in Olympia and the surrounding region.
Enjoy a full-course brunch featuring gastronomic delights made from locally-sourced organic ingredients that are grown and prepared by our accomplished alumni and friends. You are invited to feast on delectable treats from numerous area farms, restaurants, bakeries, wineries, brewers, coffee roasters and more.
During the affair, you will also have the chance to purchase or bid on art created by some of the most prominent artists in the country, as well as emerging local and national talents. The art sale and auction will showcase pieces in a wide variety of media, including paintings, glass art, sculptures and Native American art. Collectors will find pieces to suit every taste.
The Art of Living is a collaboration of Evergreen faculty, staff, alumni, local artists, sustainable food providers, chefs and others who are committed to building a richer community and creating opportunities for future generations of civic leaders. All proceeds from the event will support student scholarships and Evergreen's new art gallery.
Stay tuned for coming details.
