Harriers across town at St. Martin's University

LACEY, Wash. - Evergreen's men's and women's cross country teams entered small teams at this weekends St. Martin 's Invite.

The women's team was led by Kelly Beckham who finished 20th in the 72 runner contest. Her time in the 6k race was 24:14 and it was the best individual performance for Evergreen at this meet. Kelsey Blair was the second runner across the line for Evergreen in 48th place. The race was won by local runner Linda Huyck of Club Northwest with a time of 21:34. The team competition was won by NCAA DII powerhouse Seattle Pacific University .

The men's team finished 6 th of 7 complete teams in the 8k race. The team title went to University of Alaska at Anchorage . John Riak of St. Martin 's won with a time of 25:09.

Pacing the Evergreen team was Brian Rakestraw who finished 19th in 27:14. He tied the best individual performance placing for Evergreen at this invitational, matching Josh Klimek's 2005 finish.

Unfortunately, one of the top runners for Evergreen, Miguel Pineda is out with an injury and may miss a large part of the season if he is able to compete at all.
