Geoducks Defeat Wolves in Overtime Nail-Biter

WALLA WALLA, WA -- For the first time this season, the Geoducks have won two games in a row. Following their victory against Eastern Oregon, the Geoducks (7-10 overall, 2-2 conference) traveled to Walla Walla to face the Wolves. The game went into overtime as Evergreen prevailed with a 95-90 victory.

The Geoducks jumped on the Wolves early and found themselves with a 10-point lead early in the first half.

With Evergreen's Mike Parker (Washington DC / Clover Park HS) in foul trouble, the Geoducks struggled to hold the lead. The Wolves battled back and cut the lead to three just before halftime.

During the second half the Wolves found their shooting touch from the three-point line. Knocking down six of ten behind the arc, the Wolves gained an 11-point lead with less than 10 minutes to play in the game.

The Geoducks wouldn't back down. Heart and determination got Evergreen back in the game, and they were able to tie the game and force the Wolves to battle for another five minutes in overtime.

In overtime Evergreen excelled. The Geoducks outscored the Wolves 12-7 giving them the victory. Devin Jones (Ogden, Utah / Bonneville HS) led the Geoducks with a career high 20 points on 6-16 shooting. Jones also had a team high seven rebounds and a team high four steals, including a steal that led to a lay-up to seal the victory.

The Geoducks had four other players score in double figures on the night. Adam Laneer (Tumwater, Wash. / Tumwater HS) knocked down 18 points (3-10) with 11 of those points coming from the free-throw line (11-13). Karriem Fielding (Sacramento, Cal. / Burbank HS) contributed 16 points (6-17) and had a team high three assists.

Mike Parker scored 12 points for the Geoducks on 5-12 shooting, and Haikima Moore (Dallas, Tex. / Allen HS) chipped in 10 (4-9) to help the Geoduck attack.

Jeremy Claridge who had a game high 24 points (10-21) and a team high seven rebounds led the Wolves. Kris Davies scored 19 points on 6-11 shooting for Walla Walla, while Justin Libby added 15 (6-9) and Jon Claridge had 10 (4-6) in the loss.

The Geoducks will return to conference play this weekend when they host Western Baptist on Friday, January 10, at 8:00 p.m. The following night Evergreen will host Concordia University, tip off for that game will also be 8:00 p.m.
