St. Martin's over Evergreen 86-75

OLYMPIA , Wash. - Evergreen's Men's Basketball Team faced a strong St. Martin's University team at home tonight. The Geoducks slipped to a 17 point deficit after the first half and despite 23 points by Adam Moore and outscoring SMU in the second period, they could never catch up to challenge the Saints.
Evergreen and St. Martin's have faced each other ten years running in this early season matchup. In recent years the game has been an "exhibition" rather than a game that will count as a regular season matchup. Prior to tonight, Evergreen had won 6 of the last ten games.
St. Martin's entered tonights game with confidence, having played the University of Washington Husky's last week and walking away beaten, but making UW work for their win. By five minutes into the game, St. Martin's demonstrated their enthusiasm by taking a 15-4 lead and building to a 17 point lead by the the end of the first period.
The Geoducks seemed to regain some composer during the second half and stepped up their defense. Their shooting improved as they scored 45 to the Saints 39 points in the second half. St. Martin's lead was too much to overcome however and the closest score was the 11 point spread at the end of the game.
Seattle University transfer Adam More tallied an impressive 23 points in the game to lead Evergreen scorers.
Senior Guard for SMU, Greg O'Neal led his team in points with 19.
Evergreen plays Friday at home against Puget Sound Christian at 7:30 PM.
