April 23, 2007
OLYMPIA, Wash. - With an already a strong recruiting class for the '07-'08 season, head coach Tom Kenna announced the signing of three additional players to the men's basketball roster.
Drew Bergerson, Carlos Singer and Tyler Pearce signed their Letter of Intent to play with the Geoducks in the coming season.
Bergerson (Washougal, WA) has played the last two season at Clark College as a forward. The 6'6" incoming junior averaged 7 points and 5 rebounds a game. He played an intergral roll in turning the Clark College basketball program around. He helped lead Clark to a 17-4 record, bettering the previous year win total by 15 games. His team finished 4th in conference qualifying them for the NWAAC tournament.
"We believe that he will come in and contribute immediately to the campus community and athletic program" says Kenna.
Another nearby Community College transfer is Singer (Seattle, WA / Ingraham HS) who attends Grays Harbor Community College.
The 6'1" Point Guard has honors of 1st Team All-NWAAC Northern Division, 15th in scoring in NWAAC and 4th in assists in NWAAC. He averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds per game.
Singer is an explosive guard that shoots well from the three point zone.
Kenna has good words for Singer. "Carlos is a great addition to a very good recruiting class. We believe that with his ability to run the team and get people involved that we will be a playoff team again this year."
Also joining the team is 6'2" guard, Tyler Pearce , from Hockinson High School. Pearce was named 2nd Team All League in '05, '06 and '07. He averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds per game.
Evergreen was one of his top college choices and he's excited to be a student on our campus. He brings a 3.4 GPA to the classroom and will study history at Evergreen.
The three players add to the total of five new additions to the roster in a month.
