Menefee's 31 points, Troyer's key buckets give Evergreen a sudden rout of Concordia
OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Senior Night was not going well for The Evergreen State College men's basketball team Saturday at The Greenhouse. With just over 10 minutes to go, the Geoducks trailed 64-62 to visiting Concordia University.
Few in attendance would have guessed that when the buzzer finally sounded Evergreen (18-9, 11-5 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference) would be a 94-75 winner. But once Desmond Martin broke a 66-66 tie with a free throw, Troyer and Menefee took over.
Troyer scored eight points, including two three-point field goals, in an 81-second span to break open the game and Menefee continued to pile up the points on his way to extending his Evergreen record of eight 30-point plus games in a season. Menefee finished with 31, shooting 10-of-15 from the field and making all eight of his foul shots. Troyer tallied 16 despite missing his first few three point attempts. Julio Feliciano had another "stat sheet stuffer supreme" game for Evergreen with 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
Alex Tiefenthaler, the Cavaliers 6'9" post from Tacoma, led Concordia (15-12, 5-11 in the CCC) with 24 points and eight rebounds. Dustin Hiebert added 10.
