Match vs. Western Baptist Rescheduled

September 11, 2001

Olympia, WA - The Evergreen State College has announced that today's Cascade Conference women's volleyball match at Western Baptist has been postponed due to the rash of terroristic attacks in the United States.

The Geoducks (0-1, 0-3) were to have traveled the 180-mile trek to Salem, OR to face the Warriors (1-0, 4-3) at 7 p.m. this evening, however, according to athletic department staff, the game seems illogical at this time.

"In view of the national climate of uncertainty, there were just more reasons to cancel tonight's match than play it," said athletic director Dave Weber. "There is no doubt everyone in America has a sense of grief today. More practically, we just aren't certain that the team would have made it to Salem and back safely."

The game between the two schools has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.

A decision whether tomorrow's women's soccer match between Concordia (OR) and Evergreen set for 4 p.m. on the Olympia Campus is to be played has yet to be made by the two schools.
