January 7, 2005
Olympia, WA - Things looked good early as they opened up a 7 point lead over the visiting Western Baptist Warriors in tonight's Cascade Collegiate Conference match-up.
But a seven point run put the Warriors up with nine minutes to go in the half and Evergreen fell to 1-4 in conference play.
Evergreen nearly doubled the Warriors first-half attempts putting up 34 shots to Western Baptists 20. But the Warriors made the most of their looks going 13-20 in the half for a healthy 65 percent shooting rate. Meanwhile, Evergreen shot just over 38 percent from the field going 13-34.
The Warriors cooled off on the second half as their shooting percentage dropped to 48 percent. But the Geoducks matched the slide making only 10 of 33 second-half attempts.
Western Baptist's Jessi Schmaumburg led all scorers with 22 points. She also led the Warriors with seven rebounds. Evergreen's Heather Hyde led the Clams with 17 points, while Jenny Olson added 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Freshman Kamrica Ary-Turner scored 13.
