Evergreen Picks Up Win at Lewis and Clark

December 20, 2004

Portland, OR - Despite a late charge by the Pioneers, the Evergreen State College women's basketball team picked up a road win in their Monday afternoon contest against Lewis and Clark College 59-48. The Geoducks led by as many as 19 before the Pioneers went to a press to make the score line respectable.

Evergreen led 28-12 at halftime, holding the Pioneers to just five field goals in the half. The Geoducks increased their lead to 19 five
minutes into the second half before the Pioneers changed their game plan.

Coming out of a timeout Lewis and Clark put on a full-court press and began to chip away at Evergreen's sizeable lead.

But the Pioneers could never get any closer than eight points as Evergreen's Jenny Olson was too much to handle. The sophomore forward had a fantastic game, with 11 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Heather Hyde had a game-high 14 points with seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Dalia Gomez led all players with five steals..

Marissa Wyatt was the top Pioneer scorer for the second-straight game with 10 points. She was 2-for-5 from beyond the arc.

With the win, Evergreen improves to 5-7. Lewis & Clark falls to 2-5.

The Geoducks will be on the road for the New Year's holiday playing at Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon, but will return to the Campus Recreation Center at Evergreen on January 7th to face Western Baptist at 5:30 p.m.
