January 20, 2006

Olympia, WA - The Evergreen State Women's Basketball team (5-14 overall, 3-7 CCC) took another hit tonight as they went down to the Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls (16-5 overall, 7-5 CCC) three point shooting in a 49-80 loss.

The Owls came out with a 12-4 run making the Geoducks work from the beginning. Quickly Evergreen had tied the game and the two teams battled for the lead until the two minute mark when Oregon showed their talent behind the three point line, shooting (6-10 first half) and creating a 37-28 half time score. Evergreen had trouble buying a basket in the second twenty, while the Owls had no problem finding their niche. Taking full advantage behind the three point arc, Oregon went on a 3-24 run to create a comfortable cushion.

Evergreen found three players scoring in double figures, Dalia Gomez (7-13) leading with 18 points, while Jenny Olson (5-12) added 12 and Courtnie Wilson (3-6) chipped in ten. Danielle Keenan pulled down an impressive 14 boards to lead the game for both teams. The Owls', Samantha Gilbert put in an impressive 6-7 from behind the arc to lead the game with 19. Ashley DuBrey recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebound. Shooting 14-20 from three point land, OIT recorded 70 percent for the night compared to Evergreen's 33.3 percent (5-13).
