High scoring and defense help snap streak for Geoducks

Olympia, WA - With two players scoring in the twenties, The Evergreen State women (6-17 overall, 4-10 CCC) snapped a ten game losing streak tonight with a 71-56 defeat over the Concordia University Cavaliers (10-14 overall, 4-9 CCC).

The Geoducks came out strong Friday night, never allowing the Cavaliers to stray further than two points ahead. Defense was a key point for Evergreen as they caused 25 turnovers and had 14 steals, giving them ample opportunities on the offensive end. The Geoducks led at half 30-26 and came out in the second with the same will to win and increased the lead to 17 at one point. The intensity flowed through both teams as each squad fought for the win.

Evergreen shot an impressive 75 percent (4-5) from behind the three point line, four of those coming from forward, Jenny Olson, who with the game high of 25 points. Senior, Dalia Gomez, was right on her tail with 23 points. The Cavaliers found two players in double digits as well, Darcy Madison, led Concordia with 16, while Nicole Jamieson put in 14.

The Evergreen Geoducks will host second place, Corban College , tomorrow night, the fourth at 5:30 p.m. in Evergreen's College Recreation Center.
