Evergreen triumphs over nationally ranked Corban

Olympia, WA - The Evergreen State women (7-17 overall, 5-10 CCC) won their second game in a row in a 52-45 battle against 26 th ranked Corban College (21-5 overall, 11-3 CCC).

Both teams came out with great intensity, keeping the score within a few points for the entire first half. The Geoducks held a slight lead of 24-22 at the break. Coming out of the locker room, Evergreen ran with the ball and at one point led by 11 points with eight minutes remaining in the game. Slowly the Warriors crept back, but were unable to break a four point margin and began fouling when time began to dwindle allowing the Geoducks ample chances at free shots.

Two Greeners found their way into double digits tonight, with senior Rachel Ross taking the game high of 18 points who also grabbed eight boards and Dalia Gomez adding ten points for the Geoducks. Corban's Emily Kindle led the Warriors with 15 points while Tosha Wilson trailed slightly with 13. Corban dominated on defense having 11 steals to Evergreen's five, but were found trouble converting those into points and ended with 25.9 percent (15-58) from field goal range. Evergreen barely above the Warriors with 17- 46 (37.0 percent).

The Geoducks return to the road next week as they travel to Kirkland , Wash. to battle Northwest University on February tenth at 5:30 p.m.
