Rebounding key in Evergreen's loss
December 7, 2005
Tacoma, WA - The Evergreen Geoducks battled the University of Puget Sound Loggers Wednesday night in a close competition but weren't able to hang on and went home with a 59-68 loss.
The first half found the Geoducks breaking the Loggers full court press with ease and shooting approximately 43% from the field goal range and 42.9% to their 25% from behind the arc. Evergreen's senior, Rachel Ross, went into the half leading the team in points with 8 and rebounds with 7 and ended the game with another double-double under her belt with a final 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Second half the Geoducks seemed to have trouble rebounding on the defensive end and allowed for 11 offensive rebounds for the Loggers to Evergreens 4. The Geoducks continued to outshoot them from outside and with 14 minutes to play tied the game up. But UPS was able to regain the lead and wouldn't let go for the duration of the game.
Ross led the team, while junior, Jenny Olson, was not far behind with 11 points. The Logger's, Kilty Keaton, put down 20 points for the night leading her team while Morgan Harter snatched up 10 rebounds for the team high.
The Evergreen State College ladies will be traveling south to Forest Grove, Oregon on Saturday the 10th to take on Pacific University at 6 p.m.
