Geoduck drop season finale after losing another second half lead
February 17, 2007
Olympia, WA -For the second straight night, The Evergreen State College women's basketball team enjoyed a second-half cushion and for the second night in a row, the Geoducks let it slip away, falling 58-54 to visiting Warner Pacific College to end their 2006-07 season.
This one no doubt hurt more than the previous night's loss to Cascade College. In that one, the Geoducks biggest lead came at the half. Against the Knights, however, Evergreen (3-15 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, 5-24 overall) took a 52-43 lead on a layup by Danielle Keenan with 4:25 to go, then watched as the wheels came off. Three three-point goals, the first by Jessica Mendazonaand two by Lindsey Wells put Warner (7-11, 12-17)ahead to stay.
Warner's Nicole Brown led the game in scoring with 17 points and also had 10 rebounds.
Evergreen was led by Jennifer Solberg's 13 points and 10 rebounds, senior Jenny Olson's 12 in her final appearance for Evergreen and 11 by Keenan.
