Womens basketball adds point guard to recruiting class

Olympia, WA - Head women's basketball coach Monica Heuer announced the signing of point guard Joy White to the Geoduck's 2006-07 recruiting class. White joins newcomers Nikki Jordan of Bothell , Washington and Kristi Auckland of Everett , Washington who signed letters of intent with the Geoducks earlier this month.

"We are excited about Joy," said Heuer. "She has great court vision. She will be able to push the ball up the court which will enable us to run. She has the ability to score as well."

White played four years at powerhouse Berkeley High School in Berkeley , CA before playing one season at Ohlone Community College . She was a first team all-conference pick and averaged 15 points and four assists her last two seasons at Berkeley High.

Joy sat out last year but in 2004-2005 was named team MVP and received All-Conference honors her season at Ohlone CC where she averaged 13 points and five assists per game.

White also played for AAU teams North Coast Express, East Bay Hoops, East Bay Explosions.

White coached during her year off of playing college basketball and was named the junior WNBA/NBA Coach of the Year for a middle school age team she coached.
