La Grande, OR - The Eastern Oregon University women managed to beat a persistent Evergreen (4-13, 3-5 CCC) team without their "A" game. The Mounties used a late push to move past the Geoducks 65-58.
On a night when the Mounties could not seem to buy a perimeter basket (0-7 from 3), they were lucky to have the services of Senior forward Sheena Henderson. With the her teammates struggling from the outside Henderson put in work inside.
The 6 footer scored 19 points on 6-11 shooting and a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. She also pulled down a team high 7 rebounds. Fellow seniors Laura Olsen and Tiffanie Ulmer both finished in double figures as well. Olsen managed 13 points while Ulmer pitched in 10.
Evergreen's Jennifer Solberg contributed 8 rebounds and 13 points, Kristi Auckland and Molly Clark had 10 and 9 respectively.
For field goal percentage, The Geoducks shot 42% to EOU's 45%.
Eastern Oregon maintains a perfect 6-0 Cascade Conference record and are currently ranked #19 in NAIA Div II basketball.
Tomorrow night Evergreen heads to Caldwell, Idaho for 5:30 game against The College of Idaho (#2 CCC).
