Early lead by Owls forces Evergreen to play catch up

Klamath Falls, OR - Jenna Ball of Oregon Tech connected on three 3-point field goals early in the first half to help the Owls jump out to an early 18-8 lead over Evergreen. OIT scored a 78-60 victory over the visiting Geoducks at Danny Miles Court.
The loss for Evergreen is six in a row and drops them to 2-10 overall and 1-3 in CCC action.
OIT is 9-3 on the season and an even 2-2 in Cascade Conference play.
Tech would extend the first half lead to 15 points, but Evergreen would scrap back on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to seven at 29-22. Both teams would trade buckets and go in at the half 43-29 Lady Owls.
Oregon Tech would keep the lead in double digits for most of the second half before Evergreen's Molly Clark (Sr. Boise, ID) would hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 10 points at 42-32. Evergreen would eventually cut the lead again to only seven points at 44-37, but could get no closer.
A fast break lay-up and a three point play by Amanda Johnston got the Lady Owls going again. Back-to-back buckets by OIT players would put the Owls up 18 points and cruise to a final score of 78-60.
Evergreen had four players in double figure points led by Kristi Auckland with 13. Clark would add 12 and Jennifer Solberg and Rosiland Lee finished with 10 each.
Amanda Johnston of OIT scored a career high 23 points and grabbed three rebounds. Jenna Ball scored 16 points while Crystal Idrogo tallied 13 points.
The Geoducks play next on December 28th in a non-conference league home game at 5:30. Visiting NAIA school Dordt College (2-7) of Sioux Center, IA will be making a tour of the west coast.
