Geoducks Start Well But Mounties Too Strong

La Grande, OR - Evergreen (10-15, 5-13) had a quick start in Saturday's game, opening an early lead over Eastern Oregon (17-8, 12-6). It wasn't until three minutes into the game that the Mountie offense got going and they continued to defeat the Geoducks 63-51.

EOU's Jenny Fiso drove through the lane, got fouled, and knocked down her free throws. The Mountaineers continued to build on the lead and about halfway through the first half, Eastern led 21-9.

Eastern out rebounded Evergreen 17-14 the first half. EOU also shot 44% from the field to lead at intermission 33-18; 11 of the 33 EOU points were off the bench.

The Mountaineers came out second half with a couple of quick buckets to increase the lead to 45-26 with about fifteen minutes left in the contest. The Geoducks fought back to within eleven points, but that was all they good close as the Mounties finished on top, 63-51.

For the Geoducks Alex Saab led the team with 13 points, Kristi Auckaland had an 11 point game.

Tana Stickney led the Mountaineers with a game night 16 points and pulled down 8 boards. Also in double figures was Salena Leavitt with 10 points, while dishing out 4 assists.
