Geoduck women move into what could be a playoff spot with victory over visiting Corban

OLYMPIA -- Seven games remain in the Cascade Collegiate Conference basketball season, so nothing has remotely been decided but when The Evergreen State College women's basketball team assured itself of a weekend sweep of the two teams closest to it in the standings with a 72-63 win over Corban College on Saturday night at The Greenhouse, the Geoducks took hold of eighth place, the final playoff slot.

Tana Palmason, the Centralia High product who transferred to Evergreen from The Master's College this year, led the way with a season-high 19 points.  Latrina Woods, who led Evergreen with eight rebounds and five assists, had 15 points while Katie Garcin contributed 11.

For Corban, point guard Emily Tsugawa had 19 and Katie Steigleman 17.

Evergreen, now 4-7 in Cascade Conference play and 8-14 overall, hosts Northwest University on Friday, January 29, at 5:30 p.m. in its next game.
