Clauson's double-double lifts Concordia women past Evergreen
OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Danielle Clauson's double-double paced Concordia University to a 71-59 victory over The Evergreen State College women's basketball team Saturday night at The Greenhouse that dealt a serious blow to the Geoducks playoff hopes.
Clauson, a 5'10" junior from Edmonds, scored 22 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out five assists for good measure to lead the Cavaliers. Rachel Scarpelli added 14 points for Concordia (12-14, 6-10 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference), which seized a one game lead on Evergreen for the final playoff spot with just two games to play. Evergreen (9-18, 5-11) must travel to the league's first (College of Idaho) and third (Eastern Oregon) place teams next week and hope to sweep to have any chance at the post-season since a tie with Concordia would be broken by head-to-head results.
Sophomore point guard Alex Saab paced Evergreen in scoring with 15. Evergreen's usual leading scorer, Latrina Woods, had just seven this game, but did lead the Geoducks with six rebounds and four assists.
