Olympia, WA - In a game that started with a flurry of shots in the first five minutes, it looked as if the goalies for both teams would have their work cut out for them. That was not to be the case. The two teams managed just 21 shots in a game that seamed to be focused in the center of the field.
Evergreen freshman Tiffany Fenster (Seattle, WA/ Roosevelt HS) led all players with 4 shots in the game. The Geoducks had five other players offer attempts at the net, but could not get the lone score needed to take control of the game.
Both coaches down the stretch tried to find the right combination of players on the field to get the go-ahead goal. The Lutes substituted fresh legs into the game early and often in the second half. The Geoducks opted to stay with legs that were already warmed up for a chilly afternoon with temperatures in the low 40s. Neither team could warm up enough to find the back of the net.
Evergreen's senior goalkeeper Nora Moloney (Bainbridge Island, WA/ Western Oregon) had 4 saves on 12 shots by the Lutes.
The Geoducks will be in action again on Tuesday the 18th at home against Western Baptist College (Ore.) at 1:00 p.m. This game was rescheduled from last week due to the attacks on New York City and Washington D.C.
