Olympia, WA - After taking a 1-0 lead in the first half, the George Fox University Bruins could not make it last as the Western Baptist College Warriors scored a pair of second-half goals for a 2-1 win in the women's soccer opener for both teams in the Arno Zoske Tournament Friday afternoon (Aug. 29) here at Evergreen State College.

Sarah Stark got the Bruins off to a good start, scoring an unassisted goal with 26:50 left in the opening half on a long crossing kick from the left side into the right corner of the net.

However, the Warriors bounced back with a pair of scores within seven minutes of each other. The first, by KeriAnn Rumrey, came with 25:10 left, an unassisted shot into the left corner of the net for a 1-1 tie. The second, by Danae Crain, came at the 18:28 mark, also into the left corner, after a cross from Rumrey. The match was evenly played, Western Baptist coming up with 20 shots and George Fox with 18. Bruin keeper Stacey Ozga made 8 saves, while Kim Mendenhall stopped 9 shots on goal for the Warriors.

George Fox will play Northwest Conference rival Pacific Lutheran University at 5:00 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 30), while Western Baptist will take on Rocky Mountain College at 2:30 p.m. as the Zoske Tournament continues.
