Geoducks and Yotes Tie 1-1

September 16, 2005

Olympia, WA - A week ago The Evergreen State College women's soccer team took 30 shots against Cascade College in a 15-0 win. Today the Geoducks attempted 29 shots but only found the back of the net one time against the visiting Albertson College 'Yotes.

Albertson took the game's early lead at the 22:46 minute mark when the Evergreen defense failed to clear a ball. Albertson's Ryann Lagarmosino was the beneficiary of the Geoduck miscue as she tucked the ball past goalkeeper Carly Stewart from 10 yards.

The score stayed at 1-0 despite Evergreen's pressure in front of the Albertson goal until the 80th minute when senior defender Jamie Doran took an Albertson clearance of an Evergreen corner kick and fired a shot on goal. The ball deflected off the back of a 'Yote defender and past goalkeeper Danielle Dorsch to knot the game at 1-1.

Evergreen put 15 of their 29 shots on goal and had several clear opportunities miss the mark. The Geoducks also took 10 corner kicks in the game. Meanwhile the 'Yotes managed just five shots and two corner kicks, but they were enough to escape Olympia with a 1-1 tie.

Sophomore Kate Green led the Evergreen attack with eight shots on the day. Alisha White and Jenine Adam recorded six and four shots respectively.

Evergreen goalkeeper Carly Stewart recorded two saves over 110 minutes. Her counterpart Danielle Dorsch made 14 stops in the game.

The tie is the first blemish on Evergreen's record this season as the Geoducks are now 4-0-1. Albertson College, off to its best start in program history, is 5-1-1.

The Geoducks have to rebound quickly as they face conference opponent Eastern Oregon University tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
