Evergreen over Eastern Oregon 2-1

September 15, 2006

Olympia, WA - Evergreen was able to outshoot the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon University in today's game. It was the first Cascade Conference game for the Geoducks.

Evergreen defeated the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers a year ago by a score of 3-1. It appeared that the teams would be closely matched in 2006.

Geoduck defense has been fairly strong this season. Goal keeper Carly Stewart has been an invaluable asset to Evergreen as their lone net guardian for the team and the defenders have done well to keep the pressure off her. Today the team did not appear to be on top of their game, but in the end they were able to hold off the few serious attacks by Eastern.

Jenine Adam, a sophomore from Bainbridge Island , WA , was ready to play today. Her passing and ball skills were evident as she was the sole scorer for the team. Her first goal came in the eleventh minute of the first period following a foul be EOU. Her direct kick from the left side of the goal box neatly passed the defenders and landed in the upper left corner of the net. Her second goal of the game in the forty-second minute come from a double assist by Alice Dietz and Kati Hackenberger.

The Mountaineers answered two minutes later with a goal by Chanelle Banghart.

It was a scoreless second period as both teams struggled to make any clear shots on goal.

Evergreen is now 1-0 in conference play and 2-6-0 overall.
