Yotes 2 Geoducks 1

September 16, 2006

Olympia, WA - In their second Cascade Conference game of the season, Evergreen's Women's Soccer Team fell to Albertson College of Idaho 1-2.

Albertson, who's record so far this season is 1-5 with no conference games yet played, could have been an easy mark for Evergreen. Unfortunately their game play was not up to the task in today's match.

The Yotes scored first, with Jayne Saunders scoring four minutes into the first period. The shot snuck in from 20 yards out with Evergreen keeper Carly Stewart nearly deflecting it away from the goal.

Saunders scored again in the second period seventy-seven minutes into the match. A foul by Evergreen set up the direct kick on the right side of the goal box for Albertson. The shot was passed into the middle where Evergreen's attempts to clear the ball away from the net were unsuccessful. Saunders sunk the loose ball into the Geoducks net.

Evergreen found some motivation late in the game when a shot by Alice Dietz rebounded off of an Albertson player to the waiting foot of Lisa Leadon. It was the fifth assist of for Dietz and the fourth goal for Leadon in 2006. Evergreen played strong in the closing minutes but fell victim to the clock in the end.

The women's soccer team will play next on Friday September, 22 nd against Concordia University in Portland .
