Simon Fraser controls game in 2-0 win

Burnaby, B.C. The Geoducks fell victim to a shutout Saturday in their second game of the season. It was their second loss on the road this weekend, falling to UBC Friday afternoon.
An early goal in the fourth minute propelled the Simon Fraser University Clan womens soccer team to their first win of the season. The Clan improve to 1-1-0 on the year, while the Geoducks fall to 0-2-0.
SFU is currently ranked 18th in the NAIA.
SFU Freshman Jessica Fleming scored her first career goal in the fourth minute, taking a hard shot from just outside the 18-yard box after receiving a feed from Richelle Foulkesto put Simon Fraser up 1-0.
The Clan dominated the majority of the play in the first half, out-shooting Evergreen 7-0. The second half started much like the first, as in the 48th minute rookie Aly Benes (Surrey, B.C.) had a strong run up the left side of the field, took a shot that rebounded high to Foulkes, who beat Geoducks keeper Sonya Daisley-Harrison to her left side
The shutout credit went to SFU keeper Cassie Newbrook who did not face a shot during the entire 90 minutes. SFU outshot the Geoducks 11-0.
Evergreen will scrimmage Willamette University Wednesday before playing two regular season home games on Labor Day weekend.
