This community forum will explore the impact of energy extraction on the Earth's waterways, the effects of such development in indigenous communities and indigenous peoples' approaches to resistance. Presented by artists, activists, and scholars, including current students and alumni, the panel will look at the struggle of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe again the Dakota Access Pipeline as well as occurrences in other parts of the world. The panel will begin with a cultural presentation on the importance of water, followed by a panel presentation, small group discussion, and a visual art activity.
