Seminar 2 CCBLA, SEM II E2125
“Food security” means “the state of having reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.” If you’re passionate about making sure your classmates and community members always have enough to eat, this is the student group for you! You could volunteer in the Satellite (Evergreen’s on campus food bank), help us spread the word to students and community members, or generate ideas for ways we can better serve the campus. Anyone interested in the operations of the Satellite, curious about local food security resources, or offering input on the on-campus food bank is also welcome. Students for Food Security’s current main project is the maintenance of the Satellite. We meet every week, Wednesday 2-3 in the CCBLA, to discuss community outreach, reducing food waste, and ways to streamline the Satellite for clients and volunteers alike. We’d love to hear your input! Email firstname.lastname@example.org to be put on our email list or for more information on volunteering. The Satellite is open weekly in the same space on Tuesdays, 4-6, to provide both students and community members with food and information about Basic Food assistance (aka SNAP or food stamps).
