Computerized resume scanners look for key words which are usually nouns or noun phrases.
- Use the jargon and known acronyms appropriate to the position.
- If you have a job description use that to determine key words to highlight or look up the job in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles available in the Career Resource Library.
- The computer can be confused by italics, underlining, and graphics; keep the resume simple and clean.
- Use a good quality copy of a laser printed original on white or light paper that has not been folded or stapled.
