Satellite Remote Sensing Using Google Earth Engine
Summer 2017 quarter (Full Session)
Taught by
This course gives students experience processing and interpreting remotely-sensed satellite data as a source of supporting information in a variety of environmental fields of study, including forestry, oceanography, urban planning, crop and soil science, among many others. We will weave together elements of traditional GIS, basic statistics, and scientific data programming (using JavaScript). Labs provide hands-on practice using Google Earth Engine ( http://earthengine.google.com/ ), a planetary-scale platform for Earth science data and analysis. Earth Engine stores satellite imagery, organizes it, and makes it available for scientists, researchers, and developers to detect changes, map trends, and quantify differences on the Earth's surface.
