Section 9.1e Residential Facilities

/**/ /**/

Between our two departments we complete a multitude of different tasks to accomplish the same mission; community building and student development. While the scope of our work is quite different, by working together we are able to address the many components of student life.

Student maintenance and custodial workers are a key part of RAD and our student leadership.  You will work closely and in collaboration with the student maintenance crews and leads throughout the year, including when on duty for emergency maintenance needs and in any programming that may require facilities' approval or consensus.

Facilities Professional Staff
  • Mark Lacina, Assistant Director of Facilities: Supervises the program and directs with a broad vision of facilities and long term projects
  • Ray Ruiz, Building and Grounds Supervisor: Oversees facilities daily operations and the RM program.
  • Matt Lebens, Locksmith/Safety & Security Coordinator: Oversees keys and locks and coordinates our emergency responses and fire procedure coordination.
  • Steve Johnson, Residential Facilities HVAC Technician: Responsible for all things related to water and steam power.
Student Worker Program

We have one of the only facilities programs where the majority of the work is completed by student workers and supervised by student leads. Maintenance, grounds, custodial, auxiliary, linen, payroll and purchasing positions are all filled by student staff and supervised by students who have worked their way up through the program. The student leads are responsible for developing and leading trainings as well as planning for their crew.

Residential Maintenance Program

Residential Maintenance is an on-call/live-in service for emergency facilities related issues that occur after business hours. Common examples include: clogged toilets, fire alarm panel trouble, first aid, and handling of bio-hazardous materials. The RD on Duty is a direct supervisor at night and can call the RM for specific needs and support.  The RMS (Residential Maintenance Support) is a facilities on-call professional staff member which rotates weekly. The RMS will assist with large facility issues and provide direct support over the phone.
