Join a group of Evergreen students who live together and participate in outdoor adventures and leadership opportunities through The Outdoor Program (TOP).
All Evergreen students are encouraged to participate in The Outdoor Program, however, living in TOP-themed housing provides a more focused environment around outdoor recreation opportunities. As a member of this community, you receive access to many activities at a significantly reduced cost, plus a TOP hoodie! TOP Floor is designed specifically for incoming freshmen and is located on the 9th floor of A-building in the residence halls.
To be considered for TOP Floor, students must submit an application expressing their interest. As part of the application process, RAD and/or TOP staff may contact you for additional information.
- A non-refundable fee of $200 is charged to your Evergreen student account to help cover the costs of activities.
- Participation in the Orientation Week Challenge Course Adventure and the Orientation Week Overnight Trip.
- Participate in the creation of a Living Learning Agreement (LLA) with roommates, facilitated by a Resident Assistant (RA), to ensure each resident’s needs are met within your living community.
Programs and Outreach
As a community of residents, partner with RAD Services and your RA to plan one program per quarter to be advertised to the entire residential community in order to connect students to outdoor recreation opportunities. Varying degrees of participation exist in the program planning and implementation process based on each student’s skill set and level of comfort.
Our goal of creating intentional, supportive environments for students around outdoor recreation depends on residents’ level of participation, feedback and leadership within this community. With ongoing input, effective communication, and active participation, we can keep this positive momentum going for future residents.
Past Resident Experiences
"Being on the TOP floor introduced me to the whole TOP community, which not only helped me meet new people and make more friends, it helped me get amazing opportunities like getting my WFR certification and being a staff member for TOP, which I might not have known about otherwise."
- Fiona Hessert 2016-2017 TOP Resident
"The TOP floor introduced me to some of my best friends. I fell even more in love with the outdoors through the passion my floor mates also had for being outside."
