Astronomical Society

The Astronomical Society at Evergreen is comprised of students, with interests ranging from old-fashioned, backyard star-gazing, to the scientific and mathematical. We will focus on not only the stars and wonders in the night sky, but the stories and myths that bring them to life. You do not need a telescope, binoculars or any special equipment to be a member. All that is required is a fascination with the unknown and a desire to learn more about the wonders of our universe.

Herbal Medicine Club

The Herbal Medicine Club aims to explore the benefits and qualities of plants that increase our wellbeing. We aim to promote education about herbal medicine through workshops, learning in the medicinal garden at the organic farm, and sharing resources. It is the intent of the club to enhance student's medical power in regards to their personal health.

Countertextual Ecologies: Eco-Music

Taught by

The relationship between nature and history is complex, so much so that the space between nature and the human, being and language, may not even be measurable. Yet the environmental imperatives of our moment—including the need to cultivate a tolerance if not an appreciation for complexity itself—are the decisive ones. In this program, we will think through questions of environmental consciousness and its discontents from the points of view of political ecology, gastropoetics, eco-poetics, and eco-music.
