Grant Writing Process Mini Manual

As soon as you have an idea for a project, please consult John McLain at ext. 6045, LIB 3705B, or Dorothea Collins at ext. 6640, LIB 3705A.

Many funders allow only one proposal or Letter of Intent per year to be submitted by an agency. We will inform you of any internal pending proposals or whether coordination with a colleague may be necessary.

The Evergreen Fund for Innovation

Evergreen Fund for Innovation applications are due:

The Evergreen Fund for Innovation supports pioneering efforts by members of the Evergreen community, affording them time and resources for initiatives that will shape the college's future. Former president Jane Jervis-inspired by the planning year when founding faculty developed the Evergreen's ground-breaking curriculum-launched the endowment in 1996 to keep Evergreen on the leading edge of higher education.

Tom Rye Harvill Award Recipients

Past Recipients of the Tom Rye Harvill Award at Evergreen

2006

Faculty members Judy Cushing, Ruth Hayes, David McAvity and Richard Weiss were the inaugural recipients of the Tom Rye Harvill award.
Judy, Ruth, David and Richard collaborated on the development of three-dimensional animated models of forest canopies; data for their project came from another important Evergreen research initiative, the Forest Canopy Database Project.

Tom Rye Harvill Award

This award is open to faculty, staff, and alumni of The Evergreen State College.

The interrelationship of art and science has produced objects and ideas of enduring meaning and beauty: Gray's Anatomy, British Admiralty charts of the 18th and 19th centuries, the exciting mix of natural history, art, society and science accompanying the Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution, Audubon's prints, Clarke's and Dick's science fiction, Kraftwerk's music.

About Foundation Activity Grants

Foundation Activity Grants are offered by The Evergreen State College Foundation Board of Governors and administered by the Academic Grants office. This program supports the projects of individual students, student teams and student-faculty teams. Activity Grant projects are usually carried out in conjunction with academic programs and all projects must have at least one faculty sponsor.

Faculty Foundation Grants

Applications are due January 15, 2010

Faculty Foundation Grants, funded by The Evergreen State College Foundation, provide faculty with funding to cover the costs of conducting and sharing research or completing other scholarly and creative projects. Recipients will be selected by the Sponsored Research committee each fall during the competition for regular Sponsored Research awards. Academic Grants staff supports the committee and administers the competitions.
