Federal Direct PLUS Loans

On this page:

The Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)

The Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) is a Federal Educational Loan. The parent is the borrower of this loan. It is part of the student's financial aid package and students are required to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements. The amount that can be borrowed is based on the cost of attendance less any other financial aid awarded.

Alternative/Private Student Loans

Alternative Loans

Alternative, or private, loans are offered by several banks and lending agencies. These loans are not part of the federal government’s guaranteed student loan programs and are not subsidized by the federal government. Alternative loans are available to credit-worthy borrowers or borrowers with a credit-worthy cosigner. Applying with a cosigner may improve your chances of approval or result in a lower interest rate.

Loans

Students and families sometimes need help to cover the costs of attending college. We have several kinds of loans that might be helpful if you are experiencing a gap between your available funds and your needs.

Financial Aid

Note: Currently the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) is down and is anticipated to be working again October 1, 2017. If the Financial Aid Office is requesting your tax information you will need to provide a 2015 Tax Return Transcript from the IRS. We are no longer requesting a verification of non-filing letter from the IRS if you did not file taxes in 2015.

Financial Aid for Graduate Students

The Evergreen State College Financial Aid staff is here to help you meet your educational goals as an undergraduate, and when you are admitted into a Masters program at Evergreen we will continue to support needs related to your education.

Graduate Studies Scholarships

The Master in Teaching (MIT), Master of Environmental Studies (MES) and Master of Public Administration (MPA) programs each have their own scholarships forms for a variety of awards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Other students and their families may have the same questions as you do. Check here to see whether someone else is addressing your concerns.

Cost of Attendance (COA)

We subtract your FAFSA Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from Evergreen's Cost of Attendance (COA) to determine financial need and eligibility for financial aid.

How to Accept Your Aid

Financial aid is released at the beginning of each quarter. You will still receive a bill for tuition, and your financial aid will be included. See Financial Services for ways to get your “refund,” the amount in excess of tuition and fees.
