Biographical Note
Nick Mattos is a freelance writer, blogger, and columnist. Described by celebrity blogger Byron Beck as “the best gay writer in Portland, if not the Pacific Northwest,” Nick's essays and fiction work have appeared in such publications as the Portland Mercury, New Queer Media, On Uneven Ground, Litigulous, and OneCity. His column, "Remember to Breathe," runs biweekly in Just Out and on justout.com. He was honored to serve as a guest judge for the Share Your Secular Story Contest, a joint essay contest between the Washington Post, Killing the Buddha magazine, and secular humanist blog NonProphetStatus. He is currently completing his first novel, tentatively titled The Place We Were Promised. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon.
