College Recreation Center (CRC)

CRC Banner

The College Recreation Center (CRC) was re-modeled in 1990 to add a gymnasium, multi-purpose exercise room, office space and wellness center. The CRC is home to Geoduck intercollegiate athletics, wellness/recreation classes, club sports, intramurals, The Outdoor Program (TOP), camps, clinics and general recreation use by students, faculty and members of the community.

The CRC houses the athletic director, facilities and operations manager, sports information director, along with the coaches’ offices. The CRC gymnasium holds three full-size basketball courts and three full-size volleyball courts, and can seat up to 1,500 for Geoduck basketball and volleyball games.

The CRC also has machine and freeweight rooms, an 11-lane Olympic swimming pool with a separate diving well, saunas, four indoor racquetball courts, an indoor rock climbing wall, as well as 13 acres of playing fields.

Geoduck soccer teams have two championship fields for their use. The wooded trails that surround the college campus are ideal for the Geoduck cross country team training and home meets. The extensive facilities of the CRC are open to all full-time students and may be used by the public for a small daily fee or through the purchase of a quarterly or annual pass.

Fields & Track

Soccer Player

The CRC is not confined to walls, in fact the largest part of the CRC has no walls. The fields at The Evergreen State College are used by everyone from ultimate frisbee players to collegiate soccer and football teams. With as many as four fields and one oval1/4 mile dirt track, there is usually enough space to hold them all at once. Any of these fields can be used for soccer, and most can hold a full size football field. The Geoduck soccer teams compete and practice on these beautiful fields as well as local community college soccer teams and semi-pro football teams. The fields are also host to the University of Washington's fall football camp. The CRC fields are also available for every day use, whether it be throwing a baseball, kicking a soccer ball or just catching some sun. More pictures...

Basketball Game

The Gymnasium holds over 2,200 people. The gym contains three full volleyball courts, two full size basketball courts, six basketball hoops, eight badminton courts, and a top quality sound system. There is also a third bay of the gym that contains both a full volleyball court and a basketball court. A moveable wall allows the third bay to be its own court or part of the main gym. The gym is home to the Geoduck basketball teams, and the women's volleyball team. With the exception of a couple of hours a day, during the fall and winter quarters of intercollegiate team practice, the gym is usually open for use. If you want to practice your jump shot or put your hard work to use in a pick up game or bump a volleyball around with your friends, there is plenty of time and space to do it in the gym.
