Evergreen students who study in Japan as part of the Evergreen/Japanese University Exchange program may apply for the Monbusho Schoarship or the AIEJ scholarship. (See below for offical schoarship web sites.)

Students who attend Miyazaki University are classified into four groups in terms of their financial conditions:

1 - Monbusho Scholarship Students

These students receive a stipend from the Monbusho to study at Miyazaki University. They are provided with scholarship and other financial assistance, listed below. They are exempted from payment of the application fee, admission fee, and tuition. Applicants are required to take the Test of the Japanese Language (Level 2) in their home country.   • Arrival Allowance

(ii) Financial Assistance

  • Medical Fee Reimbursement (80% of the medical fees)
  • Housing Loan (and some monthly subsidy for rent when living off campus)

(iii) Application Process

Only one student may be recommended for this scholarship. When a student is selected Miyazaki University will forward the application forms when appropriate.

2 - AIEJ Scholarship Students

The Association of International Education, Japan (AIEJ) initiated a "Short-term Student Exchange Promotion Program" in 1995. The program is intended to promote student exchange between universities in Japan and those in the Asia-Pacific region.

(c) Application Process

The Coordinator of International Programs at Evergreen will distribute forms for the Application and Letters of Recommendation. Students must complete the application form and send it with a Letter of Recommendation to Miyazaki by the end of June.

3 - Support Committee Scholarship Students

Miyazaki University's Faculty of Education established a Support Committee for exchange students in April 1987 with the purpose of defraying the tuition and fees for students without a Monbusho or AIEJ scholarship. However, because of fund limitations, The faculty cannot give everyone who wants to come to Miyazaki the same level of support as the Monbusho or AIEJ scholarships.

4 - Self-Supporting Students

Miyazaki University accept up to t two students yearly from Evergreen. Exchange students do not pay tuition at Miyazaki; Tuition is assesed at Evergreen only. Students are responsible for their airfare and living costs. Evergreen students may use financial aid awards.
