What's Green at Evergreen?
Our commitment to sustainability manifests itself in many unique ways
At Evergreen, our commitment to examine our individual and collective environmental impact stretches beyond the classroom. Various "green" projects on campus model ways to learn about – and have fun with – incorporating concepts of sustainability in daily life. We work to build relationships with local communities, organizations and agencies who share this commitment to sustainability. These relationships serve to support on-campus services and academic programs, as well.
"Sustainability isn't just a bandwagon we're hopping onto. It's woven into the very fabric of our identity, and history, as an institution." – Les Purce
Evergreen President Commits to "Climate Neutral" Campus
Taking responsibility for our food sources
Following through with waste management
Incorporating eco-friendly designs into our buildings as we grow
Using responsible resources for cleaning supplies and paper sources
- Facilities/Custodial
- Recycled Paper
Providing academic programs in which students learn more about sustainable living
All of these projects, we hope, serve as models for our community, your community and other institutions. In line with Evergreen's goals of moving theory into practice, we see these projects as a means to grow, learn, and take responsibility for our environmental impact. Please look around at what we are doing and feel free to contact us with any questions or comments.
