Spring Fair 2009

 Free Community Resource Fair

“Strategies for Renewing and Restoring Community” is an annual resource fair created by Tacoma Evergreen State College students, to answer the question, “How do we improve our community?”  Many challenges are facing today’s American communities, including poverty, homelessness, unemployment, education, and access to a quality environment and adequate health care.  These and many other factors contribute to and reflect critical issues in society.  These factors also impact residents of the City of Tacoma and Pierce County, Washington.

Through the use if informational booths, stimulating workshops, demonstrations, and films, visitors can learn about and participate in successful community renewal projects.  These projects will be in the areas of justice, environment, education, health, economics, media and use of cutting edge technology to alleviate real world problems.

This event will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 1-4 pm, at the Tacoma Evergreen Campus, located at 1210 6th Avenue, Tacoma, WA.  It is free and open to the public.

The Evergreen State College Tacoma Campus is an interdisciplinary liberal arts college that utilizes an integrated curriculum of learning through real-life experiences and goals.   The resource fair is just one example of the way Tacoma Evergreen students fulfill their mission, “Enter to learn…Depart to serve.”
