“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 to the 1964 Civil Rights Act
Title IX is a federal law that is most commonly associated with gender equity in athletics. However, its coverage is much broader. Title IX prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity. This includes sexual misconduct, sexual assault and sexual harassment. Compliance with Title IX and related College policies is everyone’s responsibility at Evergreen.
The Evergreen State College is committed to the prevention of sex discrimination in all its education programs and activities. The College’s Sexual Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Policy provides for prompt, fair and effective response to reports and complaints of sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual assault and related retaliation.
