Biographical Note
Wendy C. Ortiz is the author of Excavation: A Memoir (Future Tense Books, 2014) and the forthcoming Hollywood Notebook (Writ Large Press). She has written a year-long monthly column for McSweeney's Internet Tendency, "On the Trail of Mary Jane," about medical marijuana dispensary culture in Southern California. Though my focus was on political economy and social change and independent studies, I took two creative writing classes at Evergreen where I met other writers who I'm still in touch with to this day.
