WA State Legislative Internship Program-Information Session

Wednesday, May 30, 2018 - 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm

Lecture Hall Lecture Hall 3

Paula Rehwaldt, Civic Education & Intern Coordinator, with the Washington State Legislative Internship Program will visit campus to discuss a great opportunity to gain paid work experience while studying the state legislative process up close. Interns work full-time for members of the Washington State Senate and House of Representatives during the 2019 legislative session while earning academic credit from Evergreen. Interns work alongside legislative staff to learn first-hand about public policy, build real-world professional skills, and serve the citizens of Washington State. Students receive firsthand knowledge of the legislative process and training in government relations, public policy, negotiation, customer service, and professional writing. In addition to their office duties, interns participate in academic seminars, shadowing experiences, and workshops with policymakers from all sectors of state government. During the winter 2018 quarter, 9 students from Evergreen participated in this program. http://leg.wa.gov/Internships/Pages/default.aspx
