Find a Sponsor
A faculty sponsor is a key component of any internship for credit.
Start by thinking about who you've been in a program/class with. Have a sense of what your contract will look like, drafting a proposal is helpful. If faculty you know can't help, ask them who they would recommend. Check the catalog for faculty who teach Student-Originated Studies (SOS) or Individual Learning Contract (ILC) programs, they are familiar with special academic agreements.
DO ask to meet in person. Once you’ve identified potential faculty sponsors, tell them about yourself, why you want to do this internship, share ideas and job description, and refer to any faculty you've worked with.
DON’T start with the faculty directory, or mass emails. If you're not sure where to start or who to approach, talk to an advisor. We can help you connect with sponsors.
