The Health and Safety of Evergreen’s Campus is a shared responsibility, and requires that everyone do their part to maintain a campus environment that offers a healthy learning and working environment for all students, faculty, and staff. The COVID-19 is a public health hazard. A COVID-19 Health and Safety Policy and adherence to the Evergreen’s COVID-19 Campus Safety Plan reduces the risk of spread of the virus, contributes to a healthier learning and work environment, and is key to Evergreen’s ability to continue operations.
The Evergreen State College (Evergreen) is committed to maintaining and strengthening an educational and employment environment founded on civility and mutual respect without regard to a person’s sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. While Evergreen’s ultimate goal is to prevent sexual harassment through education and the development of a sense of community, Evergreen acknowledges that these prohibited behaviors can occur.
In accordance with the End of Appointment for Exempt Non-Faculty Staff policy, the President, reporting Vice President and/or designee, in consultation with the Associate Vice President for Human Resource Services and/or designee, will consider and may authorize temporary voluntary layoffs/furloughs or reduction in FTE.

This policy does not apply to College faculty, represented classified staff, represented exempt employees in the Student Supports Services Staff Union (SSSSU), temporary hourly employees, or student employees.
Definition: Telework is a work arrangement in which some or all of the work is performed at an off-campus work site such as the home or in office space near home. Communication may be by one of several means, such as phone, basecamp, web conference, email, etc. Equipment may be owned and maintained by the employee or by the College.
Applies to: This policy does not apply to employees traveling for college business purposes. This policy does not apply to employees whose job description requires work from off-campus sites.
Paid sick leave is available for student employees and overtime-eligible temporary, hourly employees who are covered under the Washington State Minimum Wage Requirements and Labor Standards Act to care for their health and the health of their family members.

The Evergreen State College will not tolerate violent or threatening behavior directed at students, faculty, staff, visitors, oneself or property. This includes any acts of violence, harassment or threats made on Evergreen property, or at Evergreen sponsored events; and refers to acts or threats of violence made directly or indirectly, by words or gestures or symbols.
The Whistleblower Act, RCW 42.40, was enacted to encourage employees of the state of Washington to report improper governmental actions to the Office of the State Auditor. In order to receive full protection under RCW 42.40, employees must report improper actions to the Office of the State Auditor.
