Biographical Note
Heather Davis is the author of the Young Adult novels The Clearing and Never Cry Werewolf. Her next project, Wherever You Go, will be released from Harcourt in Fall 2011. A former school spelling bee champion, TV commercial actress, professional chef, and substitute teacher, Heather found her true calling when she began writing book length fiction.

How did Evergreen help you in your career?
I started writing short stories in my core program with Pete Sinclair, moved on to screenplay work in my film program with Laurie Meeker and then found my way back to fiction after college. Evergreen helped me to develop my voice and to do what visiting author Jim Dodge told us in a first year lecture was most important in shaping a life - "to find the one thing." I'm not sure why that resonated with me, but it did, and so I write, which is the *one thing* for me.
