  • Pidgeon Pagonis, "Intersex Stories, Not Surgeries"
    Friday, May 12
    6:00 pm
    Purce Hall, Lecture Hall 1

Part intersex 101, part storytelling, and part film screening, this presentation by Pidgeon Pagonis explores what is at the root of intersex oppression. The audience will get a chance to think critically about the ways in which seemingly binary concepts such as sex and gender are actually as diverse and as mysterious as the galaxies in our universe.

Pidgeon is a leader in the intersex movement for bodily autonomy and justice. Their goal is to deconstruct the dangerous myths that led to the violation of the intersex community’s human rights, including common, and irreversible medical procedures performed without consent to make their bodies conform to binary sex stereotypes.
