Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have dietary restrictions?

There are lots of options to choose from. Speak to one of the volunteers at the pop-up to find items that meet your needs.

What if I can't make it to the pop-up?

If you cannot make it on the distribution day, another person can pick-up your food for you, We encourage community members to show community care by assisting each other with pick-up.

Per Thurston County Food Bank Policy: The person picking up the food must have a dated note from the person they are picking up for giving them specific permission to collect their food. The pick-up person must have a copy or photo of their ID each time.

I have a conflict and don't have anyone else to pick up for me, how can I get food?

If you have a conflict due to classes or class-related activities, our staff can work with you and advocate on your behalf to faculty to allow you the time away from class to access the food bank. Faculty are generally very understanding and will make accommodations to access resources.

The Basic Needs Center also has a shelf-stable pantry for student use that can be accessed on campus with an appointment.

Contact the Basic Needs Center and/or Food Bank coordinator to get assistance.

Is there somewhere else on campus to get food resources?

Yes! The Basic Needs Center has a shelf-stable food pantry you can access, as well as many other immediate resources. We also assist in advocating and connecting students with long-term assistance on and off-campus.

Do I need to bring my own bags?

The food bank will provide bags and boxes for you to take your items home, but many people choose to bring their own bags. You are also welcome to bring someone with you to help carry items, students can also check-out carts from the RAD Office to take items back to their rooms.

Who organizes the food bank?
