Enter to Learn, Depart to Serve: A Non-Profit Panel Discussion

Join Mike Craw, Master in Public Administration (MPA) Associate Director, and alumni nonprofit experts Tara Newton ’16, Amanda DeShazo MPA ’16, and Jason Reddock ’18 for an exciting panel discussion on what “Enter to Learn, Depart to Serve” means to them through the lens of nonprofit work. You’ll discover how to link community impact and access needs with nonprofit organizations, learn strategies to build effective organizations, what works and what hasn’t worked for mobilizing people and resources, and hear from our alumni experts about their experiences in nonprofit work. Attendees will also have opportunities to ask their burning questions and seek advice on work in the nonprofit sector.

Personal Health & Community Wellness Workshop

Life is already so overwhelming, when can we realistically find time to take care of ourselves? From burnout to anxiety, busy schedules, high costs of living, and climbing corporate ladders it can be hard to find time and ensure our personal wellness and well-being is being taken care of. As individuals it can be daunting, but our personal wellness isn’t just about us, our personal wellness is also dependent on our community wellness and vibrancy.
Join us for this enlightening workshop with Evergreen Tacoma alumni Leah Ford ’18 and Alicia Klein ’05, of the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, as they guide you in this personal health and community wellness workshop. Learn new strategies for practicing personal health and wellness, dive into what hasn’t worked as you share your experiences and listen to others, discover how public health links to community and personal wellness, ideate on goals you hope to achieve, and hear what opportunities are available in our communities.

In this community-centric discussion featuring alumni experts and community leaders, you’ll engage in generative dialogue on sowing seeds of hope through youth programming and community enrichment. Featuring Evergreen Tacoma alumnus Rashad Norris MPA ’06 of Relevant Engagement Consulting LLC and staff from Tacoma Urban Performing Arts Center (T.U.P.A.C.) founded by beloved Tacoma faculty member Kabby Mitchell III, you’ll learn about the impact of their work with youth programming, what works and what hasn’t, and ways you can support enriching your community through youth programming.
