Adobe Photoshop and Digital Art Exploration: Beginning-to-Intermediate Skill Building is a remote home-studio intensive 4 credit course where students can expect to achieve beginning to intermediate technical competency in utilizing Adobe Photoshop while exploring digital art and design practices. Students will learn or improve their Photoshop skills while investigating ways to harness and leverage Photoshop's complexity and versatility for creating digital art and design. Students will engage in online instruction, team design projects, and smaller-scale assignments. Synchronous online instruction will be supplemented by asynchronous online video tutorials from LinkedIn Learning

Students will assemble a final web portfolio for this course that demonstrates their technical and creative competencies in Adobe Photoshop and their explorations of various digital art practices.

Tech, Connectivity, and Home-Studio Space needs: In order to participate in this remote-learning course, students will need access to reliable internet, a webcam, and a newer laptop or desktop computer that has a multi-core processor and at least 8GB of RAM. Our work will be conducted remotely, using Canvas and Zoom.

Students will be given access to a remote Adobe Creative Cloud license from Evergreen during the course.

All students will receive and submit course assignments on Canvas following weekly submission deadlines. Students will participate in 5 hours of Zoom instruction and project work on Saturdays from 11am to 4pm and should expect to spend an additional 6-8 hours outside of class time completing assignments. All Zoom sessions will be recorded so that students that need flexibility in their scheduling can engage with the work of the class asynchronously.

Note: Students who register for this first session summer course can also register for the second summer session remote home-studio intensive 4 credit course, Adobe Photoshop and Digital Art Exploration: Individual Projects — Beginning-to-Advanced Skill Building where students will either gain or build on foundational knowledge in Adobe Photoshop through individual project development and project-based work. Students in this second session course will develop and complete a larger scale multi-asset design project of their own choosing.
